SUMMARY OF THE
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
March 14, 2017
The Parish Pastoral Council plans to publish its Meeting Minutes to keep parishioners informed of their goals, objectives and actions.
The Parish Pastoral Council currently has over 50 items on their objectives’ list. One priority item is reaching out to registered parishioners who are not attending church services and/or parish activities to learn their story and help them in any way with their faith, welcome them back to our parish and bring them back to Jesus.
The Archdiocese has finalized the grouping of parishes. St. Alphonsus will be grouped with St. Emily’s, Mount Prospect; St. Joseph the Worker, Wheeling; St. Paul Chong Hasang Church, Des Plaines; and St. Thomas Becket, Mount Prospect. The earliest date the groupings will take effect is in 2018.
Our grouping is comprised of five parishes and two schools. No parish in the grouping is less important than the other. Each parish has its own strengths. Our goal is to make the operation of these five parishes better than they were singularly. We have already contacted the parishes in our grouping to start talking with each other.
School registration is going well. The goal is to have 180 registered students for next year. We feel this goal is achievable.
A Newcomers Breakfast was held on Sunday, April 2, 2017.
Ministry Sunday is scheduled for May 21, 2017. This is an opportunity for parishioners to “try on” a ministry. Ministry leaders will provide witness talks.
