On February 14, 2010, a group of St. Alphonsus men met to discuss the formation of a Men's Club. Dennis Flynn and a few others prepared the agenda for the first meeting.
On the evening of March 7th, Father Curt Lambert opened with a prayer for guidance and Dennis talked about some ideas that had been discussed. Then seven tables of men, about six per table, discussed among themselves what this group could do and would not do.
The room was full of male wisdom. "Where is the TV remote?" and "yes, I like Miller Lite" along with "pass the pizza down and hurry up" were just some of the many pearls of wit and wisdom that were shared. Fortunately, there were some that kept their heads and wits about them and they made some great suggestions on what this group can do.
The general consensus of those attending that night of what this group could do was very simple. This group would help the pastor and the church parishioners become an even better Catholic community, while having some fun doing it. Yes, important things can be done and yes, every man can participate.
No special groups, no cliques and no "...this is the way we used to it".
Everyone has a name tag. Everyone has a chance to introduce themselves. Everyone has an opportunity to voice their opinions and to make suggestions. Everyone has the opportunity to become leaders or followers. Everyone has the opportunity to mix with old friends and make some lifelong friendships.
Our men's Catholic faith life will grow with the success of this group. The men of this parish have a great deal of spirit, energy, faith, wit and wisdom which will make this Men's Club an important part of the St. Alphonsus faith community.
You can help this Men's Club make a difference!
Come join us and be a part of this supportive group in our Parish!
